A search conducted in the Holding Bay at the Lusignan Prison on Saturday has unearthed 39 improvised weapons among other items.
The joint operations conducted by members of the Guyana Police Force and the Guyana Prison service resulted in the discovery of the 39 improvised weapons along with six mobile phones, two cell phone batteries, one sim card, one charger, thirty lighters, two scissors and a quantity of razor blades.
The search was conducted between 11:00h to 13:00h. Since the regular discovery of contraband items in all the penitentiaries, the Guyana Prison Service and the Guyana Police Force has been conducting raids with the intention of ridding the cells of the prohibited items.
