[www.inewsguyana.com] – A man was sentenced to 36 months in jail by Magistrate Judy Latchhman, after he pleaded guilty to the offence of simple larceny.
Twenty – five – year old Wendell Carter of Tucville, Georgetown admitted to stealing a Kindle valued $55,000 from Annelly Matheson.
The particulars of the case states that on October 6, at about 18:45 hours, the complainant secured her home and left to conduct business, leaving the kindle at home.
On the same day, at about 20:30h, the complainant’s brother – in – law, the accused and four other men went into Matheson’s room to pack up her furniture, when the Kindle went missing.
According to the prosecutor, a report was made at the police station and based on investigations, the accused was arrested after which he admitted to taking the item and gave it to a friend to keep. [Royan Abrams]
