[www.inewsguyana.com] – Twenty – one – year old Esrick Simmons was sentenced to three years imprisonment after pleading guilty to a drug trafficking charge at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on Monday, March 16.
Simmons was also fined $30,000 by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine – Beharry after he accepted that on March 13 at 111 Miles Mahdia he had in his possession 16 grammes of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
The unrepresented man told the Court that he did not have 16 grammes of the illegal substance but 15 grammes.
Police Prosecutor Bharat Mangru did not reveal the facts of the case.
