Three persons are currently in police custody in relation to the murder of Marcus Thomas, the 38-year-old minibus driver who was hacked to death at Kuru Kururu, Soesdyke-Linden Highway on Tuesday.
The suspects are said to be family members of a woman who previously shared a relationship with the bus driver.
Regional Commander, Senior Superintendent Mahendra Siwnarine, told INews on Friday that Police received information that the suspects were hiding in Parika, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) and ranks reportedly went down to the location, and the men were apprehended.
commander Siwnarine also said they are awaiting response from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), to proceed with charges.
On Tuesday night, Thomas had disembarked his bus when he was attacked by the suspects who chopped him about his body.
The bus driver and the suspects reportedly had a feud over an old grievance from an incident in 2020.
A reliable source told this publication that the feud between Thomas and the men came about when the bus driver caught his spouse in bed with another man.
Since then, the woman’s family reportedly continued to threatened the bus driver’s life.
The most recent attempts on the life of Thomas were back in August 2020. The suspects had allegedly chopped him to his belly and head, and he had to be rushed to the hospital.
Following the incident, two of the suspects who had committed the act were arrested but were later released on bail.
