$3.8M worth of ganja destroyed in Berbice River

Police in Regional Division #10 recently conducted a successful ‘Eradication Exercise’ between Wiruni and St. Lust in the Berbice River, during which a Cannabis farm was found and destroyed.

The farm was approximately three acres in size, with plants ranging from four feet to six feet. There were two hundred and fifty beds, each with fifty plants.

A total of twelve thousand hundred plants with an average weight of twenty-seven thousand five hundred (27,500) kilograms and with a street value of three million eight hundred and seventy-six thousand five hundred and thirty-one dollars ($3,875,531) were found and destroyed.

There was also a nursery with about twenty-five thousand two hundred (25,200) plants and about one hundred and forty (140) pounds of dried cannabis.

Two make-shift camps equipped with four hammocks, kitchen utensils and a quantity of groceries were set on fire and destroyed, along with the cannabis plants.
