A 27-year-old saw-man lost his life on Thursday, after he was struck and pinned by a fallen branch from a tree.
Dead is Carlison Moses of Lethem, Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo).
Based on information received, the incident occurred at about 13:10h at Kumung Kumung Backdam, Puruni. At the time, the now dead man was working with a Brazilian national and left to visit another camp to see a friend.
Whilst there, one of the workers was removing a tree but in the process it fell and hit Moses, along with another person. The operation was immediately halted after which persons on site rendered assistance to the injured men.
The deceased would have sustained a wound to the back of his head while the other, Malick Durant, complained of back pains. They were both rushed to the Bartica Regional Hospital where Moses was pronounced dead on arrival.
Durant was treated and admitted at the facility. Investigations are continuing.
