David Charles Murray, a 26-year-old resident of Number 51 Village in Corentyne, Berbice has died after being hit by a car which sped from the scene of the accident on Sunday evening.

Reports are that about 19:30hrs on Sunday evening, Murray had just finished a prayer session for a sick resident and had stepped out of the home when he was struck down. The incident occurred five houses away from Murray’s home.
According to eyewitnesses, the car which struck Murray was travelling at a fast pace. Relatives said Murray went to the neighbour’s house to offer a prayer for her since she was sick.
Police have since taken an overseas-based Guyanese into custody for questioning after they received information that he might have been the driver of the car that struck Murray. Police investigations are continuing.
