[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 24 – year – old man of Lot 124 ‘C’ Field Sophia, Greater Georgetown, has been charged with the murder of Shawn Amys, a Sophia Businessman.
Odel Roberts appeared before Magistrate Ann McLennan and was not required to plead to the indictable charge, which alleged that on May 01 at Sophia, East Coast Demerara, he murdered Amys.
He was remanded to prison and the matter was transferred to Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court for July 15.
Amys, who owned and managed a small grocery shop at his home, was confronted by the bandits just before 11:00 hrs that Friday night. According to reports the man was in his home when he heard the dogs barking and ventured out of the house to investigate.
He was then confronted by two armed men who forced him into the house and shot him while demanding money and valuables. The gunmen made off with $40,000 in cash along with jewellery.
Amys was rushed to the Georgetown Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
If he is guilty hope some judge will let him get three squares for free for a long long time. These lazy garbage is a scourge on the nation.
If man person is found guilty, his sentence should be life with NO possibility of parole. Hard working people trying to conduct honest business should be fully respected and protected by the state
