Charged with smoking cannabis (ganja) and escaping lawful custody, a 21-year-old Sophia resident was on Monday released on $15,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan when he appeared before her at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
Kerry Dick denied the allegation which stated that on November 17, 2015 at Georgetown he was found smoking cannabis. He also denied the charge which read that on January 18, 2016, at the Alberttown Police Station he escaped lawful custody while being held for investigation into a criminal matter.
Police Prosecutor Deniro Jones made no objection to bail, but revealed that the accused was recently released on bail on a charge of receiving stolen articles.
The Magistrate granted bail in the sum of $15,000. The case will continue on January 26.
