…as CANU seeking Captain ‘dive and shoot’, among several others
82 parcels of cocaine weighing 91.132kg (200 pounds) and 98 parcels of cannabis weighing 56.008kg (132 pounds) were unearthed from a fishing vessel after ranks of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) conducted an operation about 04:00h on Saturday morning at the Mon Repos channel, on the East Coast of Demerara shore.
During the exercise, a fishing vessel was observed approaching a docking location at the Mon Repos Channel and was eventually intercepted.
Two males were seen in the vessel, however, the boat captain, who is known by the alias ‘dive and shoot’ of Mon Repos foreshore, managed to escape and is currently at large.
Nevertheless, the other suspect, identified as Azim Baksh called ‘Bato’ of Phase 1 Good Hope, ECD, who was in the boat was arrested. His wife has also since been detained.
Meanwhile, CANU said that several other persons of interest including Venezuelans are at large.
Investigations are currently ongoing.
