[www.inewsguyana.com] – Twenty-year-old father of one, Sunil Somra was today, Thursday December 19 remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry for a break and enter offence.
Somra of Robb Street, Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to the offence which alleged that on Tuesday, November 26 at Georgetown, he broke and entered the business place of Dexter John and stole $55,000 in cash along with a quantity of gold jewelry and raw gold together valued $6,555,000.
Police Prosecutor Bharat Mangru told the Court that the Virtual Complainant (VC) is a goldsmith, who operates a business at a bottom flat of a two story building.
He added that on the day in question, the victim secured his welding shop and when he returned around 20:30 hrs he discovered his shop was ransacked and the articles mentioned in the charge were missing.
Bail was refused and the matter stands adjourned until January 13.
