[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 20-year-old truck driver of Lot 69 First Street Kaneville, East Bank Demerara was remanded to prison by Magistrate Leron Daley at the Providence Magistrate Court for the offence of murder.
Ryan Vanlange was not required to plead to the indictable charge which alleged that on May 31 at Kaneville, he murdered Jason Ramotar.
According to the prosecution, on the day in question both Vanlange and Ramotar went to a birthday celebration during which they had an argument over the purchasing of more rum.
It is alleged that during the fight, the accused armed himself with a kitchen knife and stabbed Ramotar to the month, neck and the throat.
Ramotar was rushed to the Diamond hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The accused was arrested following investigations by the police.
Vanlange was represented by Attorney-at-law, Dexter Todd. He told the court that a motion was filed in the High Court in relation to the matter. Defence counsel requested an early date for trial and the matter was adjourned to June 08.
