[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 20 – year – old man of Guyhoc Gardens, Georgetown, was released on $75,000 bail by Magistrate Ann McLennan for the offence of robbery underarms.
Kevin Cupidore pleaded not guilty to the offence, which alleged that on June 02, at East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, being armed with a gun, he robbed Michael Jordon of a motorcycle, a BLU cellular phone, wallet and cash, together valued $473,000.
Defense Counsel, Paul Fung – A – Fat told the court that his client was at home with his family watching television when the incident took place. According to the lawyer, the description given to the police of the bandit was, “a man with a tear drop tattoo, wearing a red cap”; a description which does not match his client.
Police prosecutor, Dinero Jones informed the court that the victim in his statement said he saw his assailant’s face but has now changed his story, indicating that he recogised the defendant by the sound of his voice.
Bail was still objected to by the prosecution based on the seriousness and gravity of the offence. The court heard that none of the items were ever recovered.
He was also ordered to report to the East La Penitence police station every Friday at 8:00 hours and the matter was adjourned to June 15.
