Two men were taken into police custody after they reportedly discharged loaded firearms indiscriminately on Sunday morning in the vicinity of Farm Squatting Area, East Bank Demerara. The incident was reported to police at about 6:30h.
Ranks from the Providence Police Station responded to the report and upon arriving at the scene, two cars were seen parked close to each other. During a search of the vehicles and the drivers, the police found two live .9mm rounds- one in each car.
The police also found two spent shells of the same caliber next to one of the vehicles but there were no signs of any firearms.
The two men, ages 30 and 21-years-old of Herstelling, Housing Scheme and of Farm Squatting Area respectively, were arrested and are assisting with the investigations. The men are not licensed firearm holders.
