A man who appeared to be mentally unstable made his first court appearance today before Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry and told the magistrate to shoot him in his head since he does not know what is wrong with his head and that he will still go to heaven.
Nineteen – year – old Kareem Stewarts, who has no fixed place of abode pleaded not guilty to the charge of break and enter.
It is alleged that on June 27 in Georgetown he broke and entered the property of Somwattie Ally with the intention to commit a felony.
According to the police prosecutor on the day in question, the Virtual Complainant [VC] was entering the building when she saw the accused. The prosecutor said that the VC made checks and noticed that all the locks were broken and as such she reported the matter to the Brickdam police station and the accused was subsequently arrested and charged.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Beharry ordered the police to take the accused for a psychological evaluation for 14 days and upon completion he will be transferred to prison until the termination of the matter. He is to return to court on July 12.
