[www.inewsguyana.com] – Nineteen-year-old Wesley Griffith was sentenced to 60 months imprisonment by Magistrate Judy Latchman for the offence of robbery against Deryck Halley.
Griffith is currently serving five months jail for attacking Halley during the trial.
The facts of the robbery case state that on June 26, 2013 at Lot 14 North Sophia, Greater Georgetown, he robbed Halley of one motorcycle, one Blackberry cellular phone valued $52,000, one Nokia cellular phone valued $25,000, and cash amounting to $30,000.
The accumulative value of that robbery amounted to $277,000.
Magistrate Latchman before sentencing Griffith said what he did was a terrible thing.
When asked by Magistrate Latchman if he had anything to say, Griffith told the Court that he did not see any proper evidence for him to be convicted.
The matter was prosecuted by Police Inspector, Joel Ricknauth while Griffith was unrepresented.
