[www.inewsguyana.com] – Eighteen-year-old Raphael Mohamed was on Friday (December 13) placed on $300,000 bail when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry to answer to three counts of obtaining money by false pretense.
The self-employed defendant of Annandale Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that on December 2 at Georgetown, he falsely obtained the sum of $650,000 from Ameer Yusuf, claiming to be in possession of motor car PPP 9499.
He denied the second allegation that said on December 4 at Georgetown, he also falsely obtained the sum of $500,000 from John Jones, claiming to be in possession of motor car PKK 3172.
Mohamed also plead not guilty to the third offence which alleged that on December 6 at Georgetown, he falsely obtained the sum of $580,000 from Shawn Weight, claiming to be in possession of motor car PJJ 2545.
Police Prosecutor, Bharat Mangru did not object to bail but requested that if bail is administered it should be substantial with conditions attached.
The unrepresented defendant was ordered to lodge his passport and report to the Brickdam Police Station every Friday. The matter was adjourned until January 31.
