[www.inewsguyana.com] – Eighteen – year – old Samuel Allen of Four Mile, Arakaka in the North West District, charged with murder was remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on Tuesday, April 08.
He was not required to plea to the indictable offence, which alleged that on Wednesday, April 2 at Five Mile Arakaka, he murdered Joao De Souza – a Brazilian National.
Police Prosecutor, Michael Grant told the Court that De Souza was walking to his camp when the accused came up from behind and with the intention to rob him and dealt him a lash to his head with a crush hammer.
De Souza fell to the ground and the accused was seen searching his pockets for valuables.
The Prosecutor said the accused escaped, while the victim died at the Matthews Ridge Airstrip, while he was being prepared to be air dashed to the city for medical treatment.
The matter was reported and police acting on information arrested the accused. The case was transferred to Matthews Ridge Magistrate’s Court for May 6.
