[www.inewsguyana.com] –Owner of a mining camp, Joseph Nurse died this morning [Monday, September 22] at the Georgetown Public Hospital, four days after the mining camp which he was in was attacked.
According to the police, on September 18 Nurse, of Belmonte, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara was in his camp at 14 Miles, Issano, with two of his workers when they were attacked and beaten by two men armed with a piece of wood and a gun. They demanded gold and money and subsequently tied up the men and left the camp.
Police noted that 18 – year – old Danesh Rampersaud of Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo managed to free himself and untied the others. They were taken to Troy’s Resources Medical Centre where they received medical treatment.
The following day Nurse was air dashed to Georgetown, where he was admitted a patient in the GPHC and subsequently died. Investigations are in progress.
