[www.inewsguyana.com] – Tim Brown of Philippi, Upper Mazaruni, was remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan on Friday, October 23 for the indictable offense of attempted murder.
It is alleged that on October 11 at Jawalla Village, Upper Mazaruni, the 17 – year-old, with intent to murder, unlawfully and maliciously wounded Romel Edwin.
He was not allowed to plead to the charge and according to his lawyer, Brown was visiting friends at Jawalla Village on the day in question and they had a “few drinks” at a local shop.
It was during that period that a fight broke out between his friends, the virtual complainant and his brother.
The prosecution objected to bail, explaining to the court that on the day in question, the accused and the brother of Romel Edwin were involved in scuffle, during which Brown allegedly stabbed Edwin in his stomach, causing his intestines to protrude.
The court heard that the victim remains in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital. Bail was refused and Brown is expected to make his next court appearance on December 14.
