[www.inewsguyana.com] – Three men and a woman appeared before City Magistrate, Fabayo Azore, charged with the offense of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
It is alleged that on November 20, 2015 at Freeman Street, Georgetown, they had in their possession 2.648 KG cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
Thirty – two – year – old Alicia Smith, a Hair Dresser; 21 – year-old Dion Hope of East La Penitence, Georgetown; 35 – year – old Quincy Boyce of East La Penitence, and 17 – year – old Shakeel Leon all pleaded not guilty to the charge.
According to the Prosecution, on November 20, 2015 about 16:20 hrs, ranks from the Custom Anti Narcotics Unit (CANU) acted on information and went to a certain yard and saw two of the accused acting in a suspicious manner.
The court heard that the two accused ran ran into a front house in the yard after they saw the ranks.
During a search in a room of the house, the ranks discovered two plastic containers with 398 plastic ziplock bags, containing a substance suspected to be marijuana.
Additionally, the CANU ranks discovered a black plastic bag with the suspected drugs under a bed. They were remanded to prison and are scheduled to make their next court appearance on December 8.
