[www.inewsguyana.com] – Four men have been arrested following the discovery and subsequent destruction of 12 acres of marijuana plants in the Mille’s Hideout area along the Soesdyke/Linden Highway.
A police press release noted that the drug eradication exercise was conducted on Saturday, February 14 by ranks of the Police Narcotics Branch and the Guyana Defence Force, with the use of a helicopter.
According to the Police, the 12 acres had approximately 80,000 plants, some at a height of about 11feet. The fields of marijuana plants along with two abandoned camps were destroyed.
It was noted that a .22 Taurus revolver along with three shotgun cartridges and a cell phone were found in one of the camps. A motor vehicle was searched along a trail in which 550 grams of marijuana were found.
The four men remain in police custody assisting with the investigations. The motor vehicle has been detained.
