The police have reported that at about 2:40h today, Sunday September 08, an eleven-year-old boy was attempting to cross the road at Tuschen, East Bank Eessequibo, when he was struck down by a motor car, the driver of which failed to stop at the scene.
According to the police, public spirited persons pursued the vehicle which led to the driver being subsequently arrested by the police at Stewartville, West Coast Demerara.
Police revealed that the driver was found to be a member of the Police Force and was over the legal limit in terms of consumption of alcohol. The victim has been admitted to the West Demerara Regional Hospital as the investigations continue.
