[www.inewsguyana.com] – Minister of Amerindian Affairs Pauline Sukhai handed over to the Wowetta Village Council a cheque valued $1.5M to support the improvement of the village’s eco-tourism.
The funds, which will provide for the installation of an internet system in the village’s tourism office, will further assist in building the capacity of the village, more especially the young people in the use of the technology.
Senior Councillor of Wowetta Village Council, Bertie Xavier, explained that the young people will have access to the system to obtain information and also to communicate with friends in and out of Guyana.
Meanwhile, the Minister also handed over $785,000 worth of assorted items to the Massakenari Village Council. These include two sewing machines for sewing groups in the village, as well as utensils inclusive of knives, forks, plates, and other items for the village kitchen. Two chain saw and six pairs of long boots were among the items.
