“We in Aishalton are happy to be a part of this historic event which has seen the baton of the Queen pass through our Village,” Casimero said.

In his address, President of the G.O.A. K.A. Juman Yassin stated that they are looking to develop sport in that area by firstly cooperating with the Regional Democratic Council and other stakeholders.

The region was chosen due to a UNICEF Project in the area and according to UNICEF’s Representative Marianne Flach, the Aishalton School represents one of the organization’s success stories in Guyana.

The Baton will depart Guyana today, Wednesday March 5.
